The Industrial Revolution: Mechanical and Powered Pumps
It was as industries grew, and so did the need for more efficient water distribution. Throughout the Industrial Revolution, water pumps started using steam and gradually electric motors. The mechanical pumps reduced manual labor to a great extent and increased the speed and volume of water transport. Pumps were now powered water pumps, essential for irrigation, supply systems, and industrial use, though not a dramatic leap forward in pump technology.
